Upgrade Notice: If you have installed v1.0 of the Beer Recipes plugin, upgrade to the latest version. A potential cross-site scripting vulnerability was identified in connection with the plugin. Sort of – IMO, it’s a shortcoming in how WordPress improperly handles Custom Post Types. Nevertheless, upgrading to any version after 1.0 should take care of the problem.

I needed a better way to add beer recipes that I’d brewed on opensourcebrew.org, so I decided to write a simple plugin. The Beer Recipes Plugin creates a WordPress Custom Post Type called “Beer Recipes” and adds various fields to the edit form. All the recipes on this site use this plugin. Here are some links so you can see what the output is like. Multiple screenshots of the Edit screen are below.

The various elements of a recipe are broken down into fillable forms. There are fields for Fermentables, Hops, Yeasts, Adjuncts, etc. It displays the information in table format on the front end and is easily styled using CSS that you should be used to. In addition, a feed of your recipes are created at the URL http://[yourdomain.com]/feed/beer-recipes

The code is licensed under the Gnu Public License, so feel free to make modifications as long as credit is given to me for my work. If you would like your changes included in the main download, use this contact form and I’ll include it if I like it and give you credit.

Installation is just like any other WordPress plugin. Download, unpack, put it in your site’s plugins directory, activate.
